Hey There!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my new blog!

My name is Marilla. A little bit about me: I'm a 21 year old college student with too many ideas and not enough time on my hands. I live in a small cozy apartment in Texas with my boyfriend, a friend from college, and my 8-year-old tabby cat rescue, Bjorn. If you're curious to see my adorable feline friend, kindly glance below for the most handsome cat you've ever seen.

There isn't a page long enough to list all the hobbies I've tried over the years, but to name a few: Gaming, crocheting, reading, designing, starting up random blog pages at 1 AM because I thought it sounded fun at the time, and baking. I really enjoy doing anything and everything creative, especially if it involves cherry blossom pink or adding adorably cute faces to inanimate objects.

I'm currently working as a server at a sushi restaurant near me while I go to school. Fun-fact about me is that I can't stand the taste or smell of fish (interesting how I ended up here...) However, I do get to work with my boyfriend most days, so I guess that's why I put up with the smell.

As far as school goes, I'm in my undergrad. Technically, I'm majoring in public health as of right now, but I'm really just taking pre-requisite courses to get into nursing school next year! My journey to get here isn't so easy though...I started out in 2019 as a Biomedical Engineering major, switched from that to Computer Engineering about a year later, and after some self-reflection and a new-found hatred of circuits, I decided finally to go on the path to nursing school.

But enough about me, why are we here...?

About a year ago I had decided to create a twitch channel to build a community and explore a path for which I could incorporate my love of creating and designing things. I worked really hard to put together a nice design that reflected my personality, create a brand for myself, and burst out of my anxious, self-conscious shell. I did that for about a month, and then when life happened, it died out quickly. I've really wanted to create a community built around the things I enjoy doing and sharing my ideas and designs with other's who may enjoy them, but I let things get away from me when visions get too big and time seems so short, like most of us do. I want to work on that, slowly, and steadily...

So I'll start with a blog! (She says, like it's easy...)

Really my vision for this is to occasionally post life updates, cat updates, build my community, get back into streaming, solve world hunger, and share some of my crochet and sticker designs! Well, maybe I'm reaching for too much again, but I have to start somewhere. And as my wise mother always said as I was having panic attacks after procrastinating assignments to the last minute, "How do you eat an elephant Marilla? One bite at a time."

And so this is my first bite, this post. I hope if you've made it this far you've gotten to see a little bit of my personality shine through the writing. I can't say for sure what the future of this blog holds, but I think I'll just go with the flow. Start small and see where it takes me.
